Route Manager

Higher Taste is a local, family-owned food manufacturer specializing in Vegan and Vegetarian foods. We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Route Manager! The Route Manager is responsible for overseeing all of our local deliveries by providing direction and management to the delivery team. The ideal candidate will have experience as a delivery driver and in a managerial role. This is a hands-on position, making daily delivery decisions and managing the route schedules with a requirement of knowing all the routes and jumping in to make deliveries when needed. Efficiency and attention to detail are essential to this position.

 

Schedule:

​

Shift is Tuesday through Friday, 2:45 am - 1:00 pm or until all routes are complete. Manager will be trained on Sunday shift and work occasionally on Sunday’s 5:00 am - 12:00 pm (training and/or coverage for Sunday driver).

 

Job Responsibilities included, but not limited to:

​

  • Oversee loading/ unloading of route trucks

  • Train new Route Delivery Drivers and cross-train lead drivers

  • Assist Route Delivery Drivers on routes as needed, coordinate pick-ups

  • Coordinate and/or fill in for drivers when a driver calls in sick or takes vacation

  • Communicate with the Higher Taste Office Administrator regarding any issues that arise in stores as items are being delivered

  • Maintain and foster growth with our client/ customers

  • Provide input on delivery procedures and help develop operations policies

  • Ensure delivered refrigerated and frozen products are being stocked correctly on grocery store shelves 

  • Manage fleet maintenance program; coordinate truck rentals when necessary

  • Develop a sales plan to set up new accounts with incentives to drive business growth and expand our local deliveries

  • Position will be cross-trained in warehouse duties and expected to fill in as needed

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • A valid Class C driver's license and clean driving record are required

  • Basic Math Skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication)

  • Work knowledge of Excel/Google sheets with basic quickbooks skills 

  • 2+ years delivery driving experience (Preferred in grocery/perishable products)

  • 2 years managerial experience, directly supervising others

  • 1 year training experience

  • Strong communication spoken and written

  • Forklift certified or willing to obtain within 90 days

  • Ability to communicate in English (Preferred Bilingual - Spanish)

 

Physical Requirements:

​

  • Regularly required to talk and hear

  • Ability to read directions and street signs

  • Frequently required to stand and to reach with hands and arms

  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs repetitively throughout your shift

  • Ability to spend work day standing, bending, kneeling/ squatting & walking

  • All drivers must present themselves in clean attire

 

Pay and Benefits:

​

  • Pay is $22-$25 per hour, DOE. Overtime pays time and a half

  • After a 90-day period we offer Paid Time Off
